The Cortisol Rhythm
"NDs do that?"
Stress is unavoidable in our modern lives and this places a burden on our adrenal glands, which are the organs that produce the stress hormones: adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol. Cortisol is our long-term stress hormone and it follows a rhythm throughout the day. Under chronic stress, this rhythm can get off track and lead to the symptoms listed below. I run saliva tests to check for cortisol issues and then treat using an individualized approach, usually including some herbs that support the adrenal glands. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post about one of my favourite herbs for stress!
