What to Expect
Your initial appointment with Dr. Rachel will run approximately 50-60 minutes and include a full health history, relevant physical exams, and an initial treatment plan.
During your first visit, please be prepared to answer questions about the following:
-
Prior and existing medical conditions
-
Current medications and natural health products
-
The names and contact information of your current health care providers
-
Your family health history
If you are able, please bring the following to your first appointment:
-
Copies of blood work or imaging that relate to your current concerns
-
A bag with your current medications and natural health products
You do not need to wear anything special for your first appointment. If you have scheduled an acupuncture appointment, it is best that you wear loose-fitting clothing.
Your initial treatment plan may include ordering some lab work. If this is the case, Dr. Rachel will discuss the cost of testing with you (not included in the appointment fee) and provide you with the necessary requisition(s). A few examples of tests that Dr. Rachel orders include:
-
Regular blood work (e.g. cholesterol, vitamins, blood sugar, liver function)
-
Hormone testing (blood, saliva, urine)
Your treatment plan will depend on your concerns, your preferences, the treatments you are already receiving (from other health care providers), and what you feel is doable. The ways that Dr. Rachel treats include:
-
Diet and lifestyle recommendations
-
Supplementation
-
Herbal medicine
-
Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture
-
Dry needling
-
Bio-identical hormones
